CM for LightningTDragon WIP by Yorialu CM for LightningTDragon WIP by Yorialu
I'm posting a WIP cause I'm severely inactive with posting pictures here lately, god damn my motivation is wacky, and lacking for my commissions :stare:
I've been gone from home, busy with friends, completing Majora's Mask (Finally beat it after like 8 years of trying *Shot), and well, job hunting cause my parents have been getting on my ass about it, and were threatening to send me back to school earlier than we planned, as well as taking my car away ;;;;
So uhh...yes, busy busy busy .w.;;;

So I thought I'd post the WIPs for my colored and shaded commissions as a sort of apology for the wait ;u;

I've been working on a little gift for someone, so that's why I took today to lineart and color this, and HOPEFULLY finish tomorrow. if not, over the weekend :3

Art: Me
Characters: Their respectful owners

There's already 25 layers on this holy jebus, how will I strive through shading it :stare:
And yes, that is corner cat, he stalks you....in the corners of your bedroom...while you're doing what you do :iconenteistareplz:

Looking great so far, 25 layers heh I don't hit that often anymore unless i'm doing backgrounds.

Lightning's paws are gray instead of yellow though. ^.^''

Yeah I tend to use a lot of layers, to make shading a little easier xD;

Ah yes, I saw that on the ref, thanks for reminding me, I'll change that right away ;3

Ahh I typically do a separate layer for each individual color, including darker/lighter shades of the same color. As well as different layers for markings one for each color. So i get up there quite fast if i draw something with.. too many colors on them.

Well what I do is sort of complicated to explain, but if two open areas are touching where a line intersects it (Like lightning's head and neck) I will have the head on one layer, and the neck on another color layer, it makes shading much easier, because I can focus on one of those at a time so I don't accidentally mess up shading on the other

ahh i see what you mean and that definitely gets annoying at times.. It's why i prefer cel shading over soft.

Mhm, my problem with that is, I've grown accustomed to A LOT of shading, where it's more dark than light, and when I try cell shading, it looks as if there's not enough, so when I put on more shading, then I'm like, it's too hard edged, so I blur it, and then I just finish as soft shading, it gets irritating when I try full body cell shading ;;
